THE COLLECTOR

Have you fallen in love with one of the works you have discovered when browsing through the Exhibition section or while perusing our artists' biographical files? Has the collector's bug bitten you? Can you recognize a treasure when you see one? So many great reasons to purchase a work if art and encourage the artist!

But what exactly is a collector? Fear not! The old stereotype of the ecentric, extremely wealthy connoisseur is extinguished. A collector is actually someone who appreciates art and wishes to acquire a particular piece simply because he/she finds it attractive and fascinating; in short, just because he likes it. Any reason is good enough to start becoming a collector today!

But are you still uncertain of how to go about appreciating a work of art? Just wait and see how easy it is! Some basic technical knowledge can assist you in developing a collector's eye. Is it a wash, a print, an etching? Is it pastel, watercolor, monochrome? Is it Impressionism, Surrealism, Fauvism? But keep in mind that what is most important in art appreciation is to rely on one's own emotions. Yes, it is possible to love a painting at first sight!
