The History
Created
in 1996, Nuit Blanche sur Tableau Noir aims to promote visual arts by
presenting participative, popular and free activities for the general
public. In order to achieve this goal, the artists monopolize Mont-Royal
Avenue to express their art before the public’s eyes. Every year,
there are approximately one hundred participants. Everything is free
of charge and presented outdoors on Mont-Royal Avenue, therefore allowing
everyone to discover visual arts. The notorious artistic richness of
the Plateau is taken one step higher thanks to this colourful festival.
In less than 8 years, the event has succeeded in becoming an important
part of Montreal’s festivals. It now welcomes over 300 000 spectators
over a four day period. So, from June 12th to June 15th, get your paintbrushes
out and get ready to Reinvent the wheel !
