8th
edition of Nuit Blanche sur Tableau Noir
Tomas
Jensen!

Saturday June 14, 2003, at 9 p.m.
(between Saint-Hubert and De Lorimier)

Each
year, NBTN is happy to mix music and visual arts for the pleasure of
your senses! Be it by means of improvised imagery and musical themes,
or as a concert event, the NBTN public has been delighted to see many
artists in action, such as Chango Family (2002) or Mes Aïeux (1999).
This year, NBTN is proud to welcome a unique and extremely affable artist,
Tomas Jensen!
Tomas Jensen’s
show will be quite particular. He will not only perform humorous and
social choruses with his band, the Faux Monnayeurs (counterfeit money),
he will also be accompanied by the Artist-Painter-Performer, Luc Boisclair!
Luc Boisclair! With over fifteen years of live artistic performance
experience of all kinds, Luc Boisclair will pull all out the stops for
Tomas Jensen’s musical performance! Live projections, over-sized
canvas painting, dance numbers, Chinese cut-outs and many more visual
surprises will accompany Tomas Jensen’s vocals! Do not miss this
high-calibre performance, on the main stage in front of the Compagnons
de Saint-Laurent Park, Mount-Royal Avenue and Cartier, Saturday night
on June 14th 2003! Luc Boisclair, Void B12, 2001

(Tomas,
by himself!)
I was
born in Argentina. Like most Argentineans. In 1970. My parents met in
the school choir and were part of a small flutist ensemble, like most
flutists are bound to do. In 1976, we have to leave Argentina.
I spend a year with my father, in Sao Paulo,
and then my mother pick’s me up and brings me to Rio. Like a scene
out of an action movie: my brother “kidnap’s” me when
I get off the school bus and gets me into a white mini Fiat, where my
mother and stepfather (whom I have not yet met) and one of their friends
are sitting, starts the car and burns the tires. Like in most movies.
Except this is real.
At the age of 9 and a half, in France, I learn Renaud’s “Société
tu ne m’auras pas” by heart. When my sister leaves the house
to study in Lyon, I inherit the guitar. At 16 years old, I write my
first songs.

1998.
I cross the ocean and return to my continent of birth. The Province
of Quebec brings me luck. Here I can express myself and improve. I make
some wonderful friends, fantastic musicians. In whichever order. Since
October 2001, we perform in meeting places and concerts that are totally
indescribable with ultimately genial artists. Enthusiastically, my fellow
band mates and I record a masterpiece, our new album, available since
the summer of 2002.
