THE MADONNARI

WHAT IS THE MADONNARI?
The Madonnari is Nuit Blanche sur Tableau Noir's periodical, and a precious tool for all visual artists. It is a free publication offering a bundle of useful information designed especially for artists: deadlines for grant applications, calls for submissions, practical advice on pursuing an artistic career, etc.

Furthermore, the Madonnari highlights the life and times of a particular artist in every edition. It also publishes critiques and a calendar of exhibitions and visual arts events. It even contains a classifieds section. Its mandate is to create links between the community and the artists, helping them to further their career at the same time.

But what exactly does " Madonnari " mean? The word takes its origins in Italy; it was the name given to sixteenth century street painters, who mostly painted images of the Madonna on sidewalks and cobblestones.
